Summer Camp East Registration 2018

Please fill in the online registration form, and we will email you an invoice. You then mail the invoice and your check (made out to CFNC) to the address shown on the invoice.

Please be aware that all attendees of Summer Camp must pre-register - we do not take walk-in participants. Payment in full is expected at the time of registration, unless you have made other arrangements with us. Should your circumstances change and prevent you from attending camp, if you inform us before camp starts that you will not be able to attend, we will refund your money less a small processing fee.

Since the online form takes you step by step, we have reprinted the information that comes up in the registration process below.

Please review this material before starting the registration process.

================================================================

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The form has five pages of questions: Your Information, Indoor Accommodations, Childrens' Program, Co-Creation, and Summer Camp Fees. You'll also find information about pre-camp (July 4-7) and Post-Camp (16-19) in the first section. If you have any questions or difficulties while filling out the form, please do not hesitate to contact us at registration@cfnc.us or 786-566-0391 or 703-755-0607! The FAQ page at http://www.cfnc.us/faq.html may also be helpful.

If you find that you cannot progress to the next page of the questionnaire, please review the registration form to make sure that you have given an answer for all mandatory questions. (Questions marked by an asterisk (*) are mandatory.) Also, please make sure that you get to the "Thank you!" page at the end of the form - if you don't see that page, your registration has not been completed. If you submit your registration and still do not see that page, review the registration form to make sure that you have given an answer for all mandatory questions.

FEES FOR NEW CULTURE SUMMER CAMP

The Summer Camp registration fee is on a sliding scale from $595 to $995. This includes tenting, all meals, and all program activities.

The organizers of Summer Camp are all volunteers; all money for this event goes to making it happen! The low end of the scale represents our basic cost (without overhead or labor) while the top end is still lower than other comparable events. Any money received above and beyond our basic cost will go towards a scholarship fund for lower income individuals and the improvement of this and future Summer Camps. We ask you to pay as high on the scale as you can reasonably afford.

There are scholarship funds available for those truly in need. If you want to be at camp, we want to have you here! Contact us at registration@cfnc.us and we'll work with you to find a way you can afford to come.

PRE-CAMP AND POST-CAMP

We're offering two opportunities for extending your New Culture Summer Camp experience: Pre-Camp, Tuesday 7/10 to Friday 7/13; and Post-Camp, Sunday 7/22 to Wednesday 7/25.

Join us as we build our community energy and create the community's infrastructure; stay with us to release the energy that we created and restore the site. We have two three-hour "work"-shop periods each day, plus play time in the afternoons and intimacy/community-building activities in the evenings, building New Culture through shared work and celebration.

We ask for a small donation to help with meals, lodging, and program for Pre- and Post-Camp.

We suggest $50 for Pre-Camp and $20 for Post-Camp, but any amount is welcome - please give what you can easily afford.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

To create a New Culture, we need to include humans in all their diversity, including our smallest members as well. We offer a cooperative children's program for the young (and young at heart!). Please contact us right away at registration@cfnc.us if you and your children are interested in participating.

The camp fees for children are as follows:

Children under 3 -- free

ages 3 to 12 - $100 each

ages 13 to 17 - $150 each

These fees include the cooperative children's program, tenting, and all meals. Children below the age of 3 are welcome at camp but we cannot accommodate them in the children's program. Teens may attend most of the adult programs if they choose, or alternative activities will be provided.

INDOOR ACCOMMODATIONS

At our site we have dorm-style indoor sleeping accommodations available for an additional charge. (Tenting is included in the camp registration fee.) If you have special needs that necessitate an indoor space but cannot afford the additional cost, please contact us ASAP at registration@cfnc.us ; we have some scholarship funds available for this purpose.

Our indoor spaces include a lodge house, a cottage house, and a number of rustic cabins, furnished with twin-size upper and lower bunk beds, full-size futon beds, and queen-size beds. Some of the cabins also have small lofts that contain a queen mattress and/or twin mattresses side-by-side. Some cabins have electricity, while others do not; none of the cabins have indoor toilets. In addition to the indoor accommodations, every person registered may set up a tent at no extra charge.

In addition there is a motel located 3 miles up the road -- rooms in the motel have two queen-sized beds and private bathrooms. If you wish to rent a motel room for Summer Camp please contact them directly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The septic system for the lodge is extremely limited. Unless they have special needs, people sleeping in the lodge must use the outdoor portapotties rather than the indoor toilets.

If you would like an indoor bed space, you'll be asked to select your preferred bed option on the registration form; you will receive your bed assignment at camp. It's fine to make multiple selections if you are flexible about your preferences -- please pre-pay for the least expensive option and we'll collect the balance (if any) at camp.

Lower bunk bed: $120

Full-size futon bed (1 or 2 people): $180

If you want private indoor space, it is possible to rent an entire 4-person room for $450. If you wish to explore this option, please contact us ASAP at registration@cfnc.us, as availability is limited.

There are also private rooms at the Mountaineer Motel, about 3 miles away, that have two queen beds, a microwave, a small fridge, wifi, satellite TV, free phone, and a private bathroom; cost is about $400 to $500 for two persons for 9 nights, Friday night through Sunday morning. Please contact them directly if you wish to reserve a room: 304-825-3555 or reservations@mountaineer-motel.com.

If you have a family or group of up to 9 people and would like to reserve an entire room or cabin for your group ($450 to $650 for a room, $500 to $850 for a cabin, $1200 for the cottage house), please contact us ASAP at registration@cfnc.us.  We may be able to accommodate your request.

Feel free to contact us at registration@cfnc.us if you have any questions about the lodging options.

PAYMENT

At the end of the registration form, you'll be asked to add up your registration fee plus any other fees (Pre- and Post-Camp, Children's Program, Indoor Accommodations) and enter the total. We will send you an invoice with payment instructions.

Note that your registration is not complete until payment is received. If payment in full is a hardship for any reason, please contact us at registration@cfnc.us and we will work out a payment plan.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A confirmation packet, including contact information, emergency phone numbers, map with directions, and any last-minute news will be emailed to all registrants on or before the 30th of June. We will also provide information and costs for shuttles between the closest airports (Baltimore / BWI, Reagan National / DCA, and Dulles / IAD), bus and rail stations, and the camp. If you are renting a car, the Pittsburgh airport (PIT) is about the same distance as the DC area airports.

Updates and new information about camp will be posted at our website, http://www.cfnc.us, and our Facebook Events page, Center For a New Culture. Feel free to post about carpools on the Facebook page!

We'll see you at camp!
