Recognizing Your Inherent Splendor:

An Embodied Journey in Community

Sept. 27 - Oct. 2, 2024

Mount Storm, WV

Your deepest Self

is the same animating power

that shines the sun, rains the rain,

causes and inhabits all things.

What you are is perfect, shining, unbroken.

Wake up to what you really are –

Recognize your inherent splendor.

Join us for a 5-day embodied exploration of

the traditional Tantric view of reality,

combined with New Culture style community and intimacy practices!

Yab Yum reddish cleaned up

At its core, Tantra is:

using both peak and commonplace experiences

to touch into the true essence of our being,

which is radiant, compassionate, timeless, and powerful,

with the intention of stabilizing and abiding in continual contact with it.

Tantra also is:

recognizing and resting

in the underlying unity of all things,

which is both completely ordinary

and profound beyond the mind’s ability to grasp.

The vision of New Culture is

to create a world based on love and freedom,

rather than fear and violence.

New Culture and Tantra share practices related to:

• Embodiment

• Immanence

• Questioning and dropping stories

• Feeling and “digesting” emotions

• Welcoming big emotional reactions with curiosity

• Letting pleasure heal and expand our capacity to be with “what is”

This retreat will weave together some of these shared practices,

plus community-building practices of New Culture such as:

ZEGG Forum * Community Circles * Going Deeper practices * Sensual Temple

and additional Tantric practices such as:

chanting * meditation *  visualization * yoga

and will include exploration of some neo-Tantric practices that are aligned with the classical nondual Tantric view.

Pricing:

$595 – $875.  Fees are on a sliding scale.  Any money received above and beyond our basic cost will go towards a scholarship fund for lower income individuals and the improvement of this and future retreats. We ask you to pay as high on the scale as you can reasonably afford.

There are scholarship funds available for those truly in need. If you want to be at the retreat, we want to have you here! Register here, fill out a financial assistance form here, and we’ll contact you to work out a win/win.  Financial aid application deadline: Friday, Sept. 13!

The registration fee covers all workshops, events, a campsite, and all meals shown on the schedule. Every all-natural meal will have vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and non-dairy options, and we can accommodate many other special dietary needs as well.  There is a small kitchen for people to prepare personal food as needed.

Indoor accommodations are also available from $95 for the entire event.  Click here for more information.

Registration closes Saturday, Sept. 21!

Cultural information:

We build a strong field of loving community connection.  Come with an open heart, and you can expect to be challenged, stretched, supported, and accepted for who you authentically are.

Consent culture is core to our community – you get to choose exactly how you explore, and all activities are optional (except orientation, community service and a class on consent).

This is an alcohol and recreational drug free event – clear minds and bodies will help us connect as our true authentic selves.

This event is clothing-optional, though during fall weather, we do expect most people will be clothed most of the time.

All participants in this event give approximately one hour per day of community service – housekeeping, meal preparation and clean-up, etc.  Please let us know if you have a physical condition that limits the type of service you can do.

Find more cultural information in our FAQ!

We joyfully welcome bodies of all genders, sexualities, skin tones, races, sizes, abilities, relationship orientations, and histories, with the following caveats:
  • We ask all attendees to follow our health protocols, which include a combination of reducing potential exposure to contagious diseases before camp and testing for COVID before and during camp.  Please click here for our full health policy.
  • Our facility is not wheelchair-accessible.  Please contact us at info@cfnc.us if you have an accessibility need that you would like to discuss with us.
  • Historically, our community has been mostly white and majority cisgender and/or heterosexual.  We are working to shift structural barriers to inclusion and belonging for queer and trans people and people of color, and we welcome scholarship applications from QTPOC in need.
  • We aim to create a growthful mix of emotionally supportive and stretching experiences.  If you are drawn to the event but have a reason to think that our program might push you beyond healthy stretching to damaging or frequent emotional overwhelm, please contact us at info@cfnc.us to discuss whether this is the right event for you.
  • The nondual teachings that we will be exploring at this retreat challenge the habitual sense of a person as a separate self.  These teachings can be destabilizing for people whose relationship to consensus reality is fragile – for example, people with schizophrenia or psychosis.  If you have a history of such conditions, this event is probably not appropriate for you, as we do not have enough support staff to manage a flare-up.  Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have questions about this recommendation.

Pre-Camp and Post-Camp:

We’re offering a couple of opportunities for extending your retreat experience:

Pre-Camp, Sept. 24-27, and Post-Camp, Oct. 2-4: Help set up and take down camp with a small group of friendly folks!  We’ll share food, skills, and chill connections.  Some people think set-up and take-down are the best part of New Culture events, because the group is smaller and more spontaneous.

Volunteers for Pre-Camp and Post-Camp are asked to contribute $20 for either session, or $40 for both sessions, toward meals.
