New Culture Oasis Registration is OPEN!

Please fill in the online registration form at the bottom of this page; you can either pay through the form or submit it without payment and we will email you an invoice. You then mail the invoice and your check (made out to CFNC) to the address shown on the invoice. If you have any questions about the registration process, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 240-920-6431 or registration@cfnc.us.

Please be aware that all attendees of New Culture Oasis must pre-register – we do not take walk-in participants. Payment in full is expected at the time of registration, unless you have made other arrangements with us. Should your circumstances change and prevent you from attending camp, if you inform us before camp starts that you will not be able to attend, we will refund your money less a small processing fee.

Please review this material before starting the registration process.

Fees for New Culture Oasis

The New Culture Oasis registration fee is on a sliding scale from $695 to $1095, with an Early Bird discount of $100 if you register by June 23rd. This fee includes tenting, all meals, and all program activities. The low end of the scale represents our basic cost while the top end is still lower than other comparable events. Any money received above and beyond our basic cost will go towards a scholarship fund for lower income individuals and the improvement of this and future camps. We ask you to pay as high on the scale as you can reasonably afford.

We want to offer the opportunity for as many people as possible to attend New Culture Oasis. For those in financial need, we can make work trade and/or scholarship arrangements. Most work trade is available before and just after camp – the work is usually done in the Washington DC area or at our site in West Virginia, and can sometimes be done in your home area as well. We are also open to barter arrangements. Please get in touch with us – if you want to be there, we want you there! Let’s figure out what works for you!

Please submit your applications for financial assistance before July 15th.

Indoor Accommodations

Tenting is encouraged and is included in the cost of your registration. Lodge rooms will not be available. Attendees will only be able to rent entire cabins, not individual cabin beds (as in prior years).

Whole cabins can be rented by “pods” – groups of people who have agreed to stay together.  The range of costs of cabins is $580-$735.  Cabins can house between 6 and 8 people, max. Please review our cabins at http://www.abramscreek.com/cabin.html. Cabin requests will be honored in the order received.  Our registrar will contact you as soon as we process your registration to go over the cabin options that are available at that time. It may also be possible to join an already established “pod” in order to stay in a cabin, or to create a “pod” with other people looking for one. This would involve negotiations with other campers. We will create an email list specifically for this purpose that you can choose whether or not to be added to.

We can purchase and set up camping gear for you; gear and set-up costs starting at $130.

In addition there is a motel located 3 miles up the road — rooms in the motel have two queen-sized beds and private bathrooms. If you wish to rent a motel room for Oasis please contact them directly at 304-825-3555 or reservations@mountaineer-motel.com.

New Culture Oasis COVID Protocols

Vaccination:
Everyone attending camp is required to be fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means 14 days have passed since your second mRNA shot or 30 days have passed since receiving a single dose vaccine (such as J&J). All participants will need to submit proof of vaccination at least one week prior to camp.

We recommend, but do not require, that if a person has received the J&J vaccine, they get a shot of either Moderna or Pfizer. These combinations are still being studied, but preliminary results show no downside, and an improvement in overall protection.

Testing:
Attendees will be tested before or upon arrival; we can help arrange for testing if desired.

Depending on best practices at the time, we will have provisions for masking initially and a second round of testing during camp if needed.

If things continue to improve as they have, this may be completely unnecessary. If new, more virulent strains appear before camp, we have the protocols in place to deal with them.

Prior Isolation:
We request that everyone restrict their possible exposures for 3-5 days leading up to camp, but this is not required.

Ongoing Comfortability (Wristbands):
For any participants who require a higher level of safety than the general camp protocol, we will provide wristbands to participants that will communicate what level of contact they are comfortable with.

We welcome suggestions and questions to make this a safe, delightful experience for all. Please email us at info@cfnc.us.

*Protocols subject to revision in the event of major changes in the COVID-19 pandemic – Full refunds will be given for any COVID-19 related cancelations.*

Pre-Camp and Post-Camp

We’re offering two opportunities for extending your New Culture Oasis experience: Pre-Camp, Tuesday 8/3 to Friday 8/6; and Post-Camp, Sunday 8/15 to Tuesday 8/17.

Join us as we set-up for the event, take time to settle before everyone else arrives; stay with us to release the energy that we created and restore the site. We have two three-hour “work”-shop periods each day, plus play time in the afternoons.

People can also arrive early they wish to self-isolate on the campground (highly recommended for those who have the J&J vaccine and have nowhere they can self-isolate at home).

Those who wish to isolate or volunteer can arrive Tuesday afternoon or evening on August 3rd; you have a choice to either pay the nightly rate for your sleep space, or help out with set-up tasks.  If you are helping with set-up, then plan to be ready to work first thing on Wednesday, August 4th.

Post Camp: Volunteers for take-down will stay Sunday night, August 15th, and we’ll be ready to work first thing on Monday morning, August 16th. Take-down volunteers may stay Monday night, when we will have connecting activities, leaving no later than 3pm on Tuesday, August 17th.

Volunteers for set-up and takedown are asked to contribute at least $20 for either session, or $40 for both sessions– toward meals.

Kids at camp:

To create a New Culture, we need to include humans in all their diversity, including our smallest members as well. In order to maintain a safe camp for everyone we are currently welcoming kids age 12 and up if vaccinatedIf younger kids can get fully vaccinated before camp, we will admit them too. We need to know by July 15th if any children will be joining us, so that we can arrange for a youth program.

The camp fees for children are as follows:

  • Ages 3 and under – Free
  • Ages 4 to 12 – $100 each
  • Ages 13 to 17 – $150 each

These fees include the cooperative children’s program, tenting, and all meals.

Teens may attend most of the adult programs if they choose, or alternative activities will be provided.

Additional Information

A confirmation packet, including contact information, emergency phone numbers, map with directions, camp COVID-19 protocols, and any last-minute news will be emailed to all registrants on or before the 20th of July.

Updates and new information about camp will be posted on our Facebook Event page, New Culture Oasis. Feel free to post about carpools on the Facebook page!
