You then mail the invoice and your check (made out to CFNC) to the address shown on the invoice. If you have any questions about the registration process, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 202.615.4517 or info@cfnc.us.

Please be aware that all attendees of Summer Camp must register online – we do not take walk-in participants. Payment in full is expected at the time of registration, unless you have made other arrangements with us. Should your circumstances change and prevent you from attending camp, if you inform us before camp starts that you will not be able to attend, we will refund your money less a small processing fee.

Please review this material before starting the registration process.

Fees for New Culture Summer Camp

The Summer Camp registration fee is on a sliding scale from $795 to $1495, with an Early Bird discount of $100 if you register by May 13th. This fee includes tenting, all meals, and all program activities. The low end of the scale represents our basic cost while the top end is still lower than other comparable events. Any money received above and beyond our basic cost will go towards a scholarship fund for lower income individuals and the improvement of this and future Summer Camps. We ask you to pay as high on the scale as you can reasonably afford.

We want to offer the opportunity for as many people as possible to attend New Culture Summer Camp East. For those in financial need, we can make work trade and/or scholarship arrangements. Most work trade is available before and just after camp – the work is usually done in the Washington DC area or at our site in West Virginia, and can sometimes be done in your home area as well. We are also open to barter arrangements. Please get in touch with us – if you want to be there, we want you there! Let’s figure out what works for you!

Part of building a New Culture includes working against existing systemic barriers and creating more equity and accessibility. To support our goal of welcoming all people to Summer Camp, we especially encourage campers who are BIPoC, trans, LGBQ+, disabled, or hold other marginalized identities to apply for scholarship.

Indoor Accommodations

At our site we have dorm-style indoor sleeping accommodations available for an additional charge. (Tenting is included in the camp registration fee.) If you have special needs that necessitate an indoor space but cannot afford the additional cost, please contact us ASAP at info@cfnc.us; we have some scholarship funds available for this purpose.

Our indoor spaces include a lodge house, a cottage house, and a number of rustic cabins, furnished with twin-size upper and lower bunk beds, full-size futon beds, and queen-size beds. Some of the cabins also have small lofts that contain a queen mattress and/or twin mattresses side-by-side. Some cabins have electricity, while others do not; none of the cabins have indoor toilets. In addition to the indoor accommodations, every person registered may set up a tent at no extra charge.

In addition there is a motel located 3 miles up the road — rooms in the motel have two queen-sized beds and private bathrooms. If you wish to rent a motel room for Summer Camp please contact them directly at 304-825-3555 or reservations@mountaineer-motel.com.

Read more about our indoor lodging spaces on the venue’s website.

Pre-Camp and Post-Camp

We’re offering two opportunities for extending your New Culture Summer Camp experience: Pre-Camp, Tuesday 7/09 to Friday 7/12; and Post-Camp, Sunday 7/21 to Tuesday 7/23.

Join us as we build our community energy and create the community’s infrastructure; stay with us to release the energy that we created and restore the site. We have two three-hour “work”-shop periods each day, plus play time in the afternoons and intimacy/community-building activities in the evenings, building New Culture through shared work and celebration.
We ask for a small donation, if you can, to help with meals, lodging, and program for Pre- and Post-Camp.

We suggest $50 for Pre-Camp and $20 for Post-Camp, but any amount is welcome – please give what you can easily afford.

Children’s Program

To create a New Culture, we need to include humans in all their diversity, including our smallest members as well. We offer a cooperative children’s program for the young (and young at heart!). Please contact us right away at registration@cfnc.us if you and your children are interested in participating.

The camp fees for children are as follows:

  • Children under 3 — free
  • Ages 3 to 12 – $150 each
  • Ages 13 to 17 – $250 each

These fees include the program, tenting, and all meals.

Children below the age of 3 are welcome at camp but we cannot accommodate them in the children’s program. Teens may attend most of the adult programs if they choose, or alternative activities will be provided.

Additional Information

A confirmation packet, including contact information, emergency phone numbers, map with directions, and any last-minute news will be emailed to all registrants on or before the 2nd of July.

We will also provide information and costs for shuttles between the closest airports (Baltimore / BWI, Reagan National / DCA, and Dulles / IAD), bus and rail stations, and the camp. If you are renting a car, the Pittsburgh airport (PIT) is about the same distance as the DC area airports.

Updates and new information about camp will be posted on our Facebook Event page, New Culture Summer Camp East 2024. Feel free to post about carpools on the Facebook page!

We’ll see you at camp!

Summer Camp East '24 & COVID-19

We are committed to making this event safe and connecting.  Out of care for the most vulnerable people in our networks, we require testing before and during camp, plus EITHER vaccination, a booster, and a period of limiting exposure OR a quarantine period onsite before the event.  Our protocol is subject to change based on conditions nearer the time of the event.

To those community members whose needs are not met by this protocol, please know that we love you, miss you, and look forward to the day when we can all gather together.  We are working to develop a metric for when we will consider it safe to connect without precautions.

If our final protocol does not work for you, if you decide to withdraw from attending a CFNC event for illness related issues, or if we cancel the event due to a surge in COVID cases, we will issue you a full refund.

We request that you pay via Venmo or Paypal if you would like to pre-pay for an event, so that we can avoid paying credit card fees in the case of cancellation.
